A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1955, DCP, 106m) w/Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis. Grant and Kelly play cat and mouse up and down the French Riviera. Although the plot and tone are deceptively light, the two stars bring an intensity that turns this caper film into a bracing psychological journey. Screening date to be determined. 7:00
THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1956, DCP, 120m) w/James Stewart, Doris Day. Hitchcock once said that the audience would have to know how to read music in order to appreciate the suspense in this film. Indeed, Bernard Herrmann’s score is pivotal to the nail-biting finale of this tale about a family of American tourists in Morocco who accidentally cross paths with international assassins. ROPE
A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1948, DCP, 80m) w/James Stewart, John Dall, Farley Granger. Inspired by the notorious 1924 Leopold-Loeb murder case, Rope concerns a pair of intellectuals who kill a young man in order to prove their superiority—and then invite their professor over while the body lies in a trunk in the living room. A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1963, DCP, 119m) w/Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy. When Hedren’s Melanie Daniels meets Taylor’s Mitch Brenner, sparks (and birds) fly. Tandy is on hand as Brenner’s controlling mother, who is almost as evil as the avian threat. Screening date to be determined. 7:00
SABOTEUR
A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1942, DCP, 109m) w/Robert Cummings, Priscilla Lane, Norman Lloyd. Framed for starting a fire at an aircraft factory during World War II, Barry Kane (Cummings) must prove his innocence. He starts by tracking down the true culprit, an agitator named Fry (Lloyd), who has vanished without a trace. Screening date to be determined. 7:00
TORN CURTAIN
A Trylon Roadshow at the Riverview Theater (1966, DCP, 128m) w/Paul Newman, Julie Andrews, Lila Kedrova. A cold war thriller with an icy heart. Newman plays a double-agent/physicist whose duplicity confuses even his fiancée (Andrews). The killing of an East German spy—in an oven—ranks among Hitchcock’s most intense sequences.
