Witness

Friday, September 1–Sunday, September 3

(1985, DCP, 112m) dir Peter Weir w/Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis, Lukas Haas. A young Amish boy (Haas) is witness to a murder in a train-station bathroom, and Detective John Book (Ford) must protect him as they are forced into hiding. Part action flick, part fish-out-of-water drama, part social and moral commentary, Witness balances so many things so well, it earned eight Oscar nominations and two wins.

In his essay for Perisphere on Witness and The Mosquito Coast, John Blair analyzes Ford’s star-powered performances for Peter Weir.
