(1960, 110m) dir Elia Kazan w/Montgomery Clift, Lee Remick, Jo Van Fleet. The Tennessee Valley has seen devastating floods, and Chuck Glover (Clift) is sent to move people off their land for the building of a new dam. He’s got his hands full. Ella Garth (Van Fleet) refuses to go, and the local commissioner won’t hire Black workers. Kazan’s film is a tender, romantic, and empathetic chronicle that never found an audience upon its release. Longworth will be in attendance to introduce all screenings.
