(1961, 75m) dir Peter Kass w/John Heffernan, Stewart Heller, Barry Collins. Gaunt (Heffernan), a wandering drifter, witnesses the attempted rape and accidental murder of a Black woman and is accused of the act himself. Peter Kass’s once-lost 1961 film is part thriller, part atomic bomb critique, and part acid film, making it engaging and utterly unique. Restored by UCLA Film & Television Archive and Lightbox Film Center, University of the Arts at Illuminate Hollywood laboratory, in collaboration with Corpus Fluxus and Audio Mechanics from the 35mm picture, soundtrack negative and the original ¼” stereo master recording of Lejaren Hiller’s score.
