The Tribe

Tuesday, June 2

(2014, 126m, Ukrainian Sign Language) dir Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi w/Hryhoriy Fesenko, Yana Novikova, Rosa Babiy. Sergei (Fesenko) joins a boarding school for the deaf in Kiev and attempts to conform but experiences unbounded levels of cruelty. Director Slaboshpytskyi uses no audible words, subtitles, or score, creating a truly unique experience. Unsettling and deeply disturbing, The Tribe is an unflinching portrait of humanity’s worst impulses.
