The Goldfish
Thursday, May 29
(2019, DVD, 111m, German with English subtitles) dir Alireza Golafshan w/Tom Schilling, Jella Haase, Birgit Minichmayr. High-flying banker and portfolio manager Oliver lives life in the fast lane—until a devastating car crash brings it all to a screeching halt. Waking up in the hospital, he’s faced with a harsh reality: paralysis from the waist down. Unwilling to accept his new circumstances, Oliver resists rehabilitation, more concerned with Wi-Fi speeds than physical therapy. But everything changes when he crosses paths with “The Goldfish,” a lively group of residents with disabilities. When Oliver needs to smuggle his dirty money across the German-Swiss border, he ropes in his new acquaintances, their dedicated caregiver Laura, and their cynical nurse Eddy for an unconventional, high-stakes road trip. What begins as a scheme for personal gain turns into an adventure that just might change Oliver’s outlook on life. $3
