The Ballad Of Cable Hogue

(1970, DCP, 121m) w/Jason Robards, Stella Stevens, Slim Pickens. Cable Hogue (Robards) is a prospector left for dead in the desert by his double-crossing partners. But he discovers a clear spring and becomes wealthy selling water to stagecoach travelers. Funny and emotionally resonant, this is a different kind of Peckinpah film but no less essential.
