SCIENCE SALON: A JOURNEY IN STEAM

Saturday, September 30th

Join the Minnesota Academy of Science for a scientific look into cinematic illusions with Christian Hanson, simulation engineer at Mayo Clinic’s Anatomic Modeling Unit. Christian will bring you into his world of advanced 3D printing, detailing his journey from film special effects creator to the field of medical simulation engineering. Presentation will be followed by Roger Corman’s darkly humorous classic A Bucket of Blood (1959, 66min), about an artist (Dick Miller) who gains fame for his… unconventional… methods as a sculptor. An exploration of science, art and morality awaits.

Proceeds will support MAS programs bringing STEM learning to Minnesota students.

Doors open at 2:30, presentation at 3:00, films begin at 3:45. $20
