L.A. Confidential

(1997, 138m) dir Curtis Hanson w/Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce. “Three cops in 1950s Los Angeles—one brainy, one brawny, and one smarmy—team up to uncover a conspiracy behind a massacre at a late-night diner and 25 pounds of missing H. I didn’t know what noir, neo or OG, was when I was 14, but L.A. Confidential opened the door and has stayed a favorite ever since.”—Hannah O’Neill, Trylon volunteer since 2017
