(1996, DCP, 98m) w/Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi. An outrageous story of a kidnapping gone wrong, an intensely violent look at loneliness and greed, and a hilarious sendup of Minnesota nice. McDormand won an Oscar as Marge Gunderson, the very pregnant Brainerd policewoman whose persistence and wisdom win the day. The brand new book, A Lot Can Happen in the Middle of Nowhere: The Untold Story of the Making of Fargo by author (and Trylon volunteer!) Todd Melby examines to what extent the story was inspired by true events (as the film claims), and whether the Coens are trustworthy narrators of their own story. Melby will be on hand for a Q&A after the early screening and to introduce the late screening. Moon Palace Books will have copies available for purchase in the lobby. 7:00 9:30
