(1975, 35mm, 142m, Russian and Mandarin w/English subtitles) dir Akira Kurosawa w/Maksim Munzuk, Yuriy Solomin, Mikhail Bychkov. A Russian explorer in the unforgiving Siberian Taiga is rescued by Dersu Uzala (Munzuk) and taught what it means to survive. Originally created for Soviet television, Dersu Uzala is one of Kurosawa’s major achievements. Presented on the only known 35mm print in the States.
