(1948, 84m, Japanese w/English subtitles) dir Yasujirô Ozu w/Kinuyo Tanaka, Shûji Sano, Chishû Ryû. When a traumatized soldier (Sano) returns home at the end of World War II, he brings the war home with him. When he discovers that his wife (Tanaka) became a sex worker to support herself and their son, his brutality is unleashed. Tanaka’s performance is incredible in another atypical Ozu film.
