HOUSE OF MYSTERIOUS SECRETS
Thursday, December 16
(2021, DCP, 71m) dir Rolf Haas. With Rolf Haas: violin, and Christopher Brunelle: piano. Is your life stuck in the deeply worn grooves of routine? Are those wheels stuck spinning on autopilot, following the programmed algorithms and repeating what you’re told? Have you a thirsting desire to dare an escape from the humdrum?……..
Well my friends, I have just the potion for what ails you…but first I must know if you are brave enough to struggle your way through the knarl of thither’s forbidding path, swatting away nettles and tickly greens in the sweet sour evening air? Yes? Well then you might just catch a glimpse of it: The House of Mysterious Secrets, so called around town, lies dead ahead. And if you are as you say you are, you are to spend a night, 1 night, alone inside this ‘haunted’ mansion.
Whoever knows what you’ll find during your night in the house? It could be anything:
stories from lips in long ago lands (like 1700’s Germany), encounters with beings of questionable origins (is it spectre or is it flesh?), voices from beyond the grave….
It could be anything: strange footfalls and jigs, music written by Johann Sebastian Bach (and maybe even Henryk Górecki), memories and premonitions brought to life by violinist Rolf Haas (of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra)….
Whoever knows what you’ll find within, it’s completely different every eve.
But you must Beware, for the person you may have known entering ‘pon ring of last evening’s bell might not make it out.
You’ve been warned…
