Emerging in the industry as a director of avant-garde commercials, Hiroshima native Nobuhiko Ôbayashi directed over seventy films. They balance humanity and a boundless imaginative vision. During his time with the eminent publishing company Kadokawa, Ôbayashi worked within the studio system, creating films completely his own. These films have largely been unavailable in the States until now.
