Kenji Misumi's Samurai Sixties

September at the Trylon

The unwanted child of a businessman and a geisha, Misumi was raised by his aunt before being drafted into World War II and surviving two years in a Siberian POW camp. Upon his return, he began working in mostly chanbara (samurai) films, making nearly four films a year. A decade before he directed his wildly successful and beloved Lone Wolf and Cub series, Misumi crafted these four personal tales of honor among outcasts.
