For centuries, witches have been at the center of superstitious folklore and blamed for social ills around the world. Yet witchcraft also represents experimentation, resistance, and feminist power. From ancient revenge curses to modern-day blood sacrifices, this selection draws from seven countries and includes our annual traditional screenings of Hausu. On October 7, our friends at Berlin (204 N. 1st Street, Minneapolis) present a night of live music inspired by the cinema of sorcery featuring Thunderbolt Pagoda, a Goblin cover band, and Witching Hour, the DJ duo Mudd and Sylvia Jennings.
