PHIL-FOR-SHORT

(1919, 35mm, 76m) dir Oscar Apfel w/Evelyn Greeley. Preceded by the short HER FIRST FLAME (1920, 35mm 20m) and PRINCESS NICOTINE; OR, THE SMOKE FAIRY (1909, 35mm, 5m). A futuristic world where men are the homemakers, a woman professor who won’t  be told how to live, and an experimental short about miniature nicotine fairies. These suffragette-era feminist silents are true rarities. Guest programmed by Maggie Hennefeld. Live musical accompaniment by Dreamland Faces. These screenings are made possible by the University of Minnesota’s ImagineFund. The 35mm prints are preserved by the Library of Congress.
